Thanks, they are. Their coloration makes them a really striking fish to watch. I also appreciate their level of aggression. As I spend more time in the hobby I find I appreciate more peaceful fish and these guys are proving fairly easy going. They do display aggression but not enough for me to have to worry about deaths or torn fins, scales causing disease out breaks making their aggression level just about perfect for me. Just enough to enjoy watching lip locking and their displays but not enough to cause stress.They are very nice looking, must be fun to watch

Beautiful shots and fish. I've recently become interested in EBJD as well and picked one up a little while ago. I've heard about them being timid, weak, slow growing etc but mine seems like a typical voracious cichlid at this point. Best of luck breeding them.
Thanks, I love taking pics of fish and these guys make it fairly easy. They are pretty confident and recognized me quickly and the camera making taking shots of them easier then most. This is my first experience with them as well. They do seem less aggressive then any JD I've ever had as far as being weak and slow growing I've heard the same. Some pretty knowledgeable keepers on here have had problems raising them to size. A friend convinced me to give them a try despite my being hesitant. Luckily I was able to pick these guys up. I've got 2 more adult male EBJD's on the way and the female BG's I have are all from the same source who says he was breeding this particular group of EBJD's and BG's till recently. Hopefully that'll give me a leg up as there supposed to be a proven group. Good luck with yours as well though I think you'll be fine judging by how you're describing him.
Your fish are amazing! I own two small guys like that and I hope one day they will look like those.
I saw a lot of comments about EBJD beeing week. Well what I've learnd about my guys is that they are very vulnerable. But if u catch cose of sickness fast they get back to shape preety quick.
Mine did overcome ick and fungus and bacterial fin root. And knocking on the wood are healthy and strong.
Other fishes get down fast. EBJD are like sensors for water conditions and bacterial infections. They show signs of stress and diseases but remain active and dont lose apetite while e.g blue acaras or discus will stop eating or hide in corners of tank. I call it strong! Or maybe I was lucky and I owe two tough guys ;-).

Thanks, it's much appreciated and sorry for not checking this thread sooner and responding. Getting them through ick, fungus and bacterial fin rot shows that yours are pretty tough so hopefully they'll grow maybe even enough to easily dwarf my two. Good luck with them.
Final bump to the thread to show some final pics unless that is they and the BG females produce some fry for me.
Those are nice looking fish there, hopefully you have more luck with them then I do with my EBJD who refuses to eat any more food then absolutely necessary, and subsequently doesn't grow.
