Local Aquarium Club/Society

So today me and a couple other MFKers. went to our local aquarium club's (North Jersey Aquarium Society) semi-annual auction and it got me thinking. A lot of us come to MFK to seek like minded people to discuss our passion (or insanity depending on who you speak to). When we have the NJ meets our group seems to get bigger and bigger each time. Yet none of us are active with NJAS and i think that is a shame. For those of you who may not be familiar with Aquarium Clubs/Society they are usually a group of like minded people that have meetings ,auctions get together s etc to support the hobby regionally. A lot of them also have facebook pages etc to make connecting easier. They may not all be MONSTER as we are but if NJAS is like any of the others the amount of accumulated knowledge common interest and resources can be staggering. The other thing is it is pretty fun to be able to talk about your fish to a live person and not get odd looks...lol.

SO on the ride home today Shookones and myself decided we are going to become active members starting next month . I encourage you to join us if local or seek out the club in your neck of the woods and join up...

I agree with you - I wish there was a club more local to me in CNJ but Lyndhurst is to far for monthly meetings. I do attend the NJAS events when they are closer - like today. I always put some of my lots to donation to help the clubs. If there are an clubs more local to my zip code 08880 I'd love to hear about it.
 
Guys great idea, im a member but i have to admit i haven't been on the site for ages. I guess i have to look up my password lol
 
I have been a member of NJAS for a bit now. I would love to go to there meeting but can't make Thursdays
 
ive attempted to do this in my area and its only back fired on me haha. i did meet a lot of people that keep fish or are interested in keeping fish. but there are only 2 or 3 that i care to speak to. the rest of them continuously prove how irresponsible they are despite having knowledgeable resources at their disposal and despite being told they're doing something wrong.
another fish forum and mfk are the only "fish clubs" i need to partake in.

I currently serve as President of the Indianapolis Aquarium Club, the Circle City Aquarium Club.
In the past, we started a local cichlids club but then opted to go join the CCAC. Since joining, I have also served on the board of directors prior to being nominated and elected for the current role.

Nice! Hopefully you went home with something... not sure about CNJ hopefully someone can chime in.
