Help with newly introduced Motoro stingray. !!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
at this point am out of things to try :/. ill go add in some salt, how long should i wait to try and feed her again? i dont want to annoy her but i dont want her to starve either.
Here is what i would do.... can you divide the tank? I would isolate her. Add salt ...leave lights off and stop messing with the tank. If her eyes are white and she has that white. it couldbe ammonia or ph burn... what is your ph?

I cant divide the tank unfortunately , it's a 220G and i have nothing to divide it with, i do have a 55G in my room but currently has grow outs . I turned one of the wave makers off, the one that hits the bottom of the tank, left the one for surface movement . My ammonia levels were a bit high a few weeks back but everything is been normal since i started aging water in a 55G Brute can, and i do water changes 2 times a week, about 20% with the 55G brute . my readings are 0.0.5 atm. i remember my bichir had this problem when i first received it, went away after a week in my tank. wondering if is ammonia burn, if it is, how can i fix it plz

Do you have a home depot or lowes near you? Or some home improvement store?
If so, pick up some egg crate light diffuser -its real cheap-, cut a piece the size of the inside of your tank, make sure there are no sharp eges so your ray doesnt cut herself if she tries to get through. Suxion cup it in place if you have to
I think the move, new enviroment, and your bichir constantly next to her is stressing her out and if you seperate her, that'll solve a third of the problem.

Parameter readings are up to par, but if the test kit is old than perhaps time to invest in a newer one, and get good water conditioner like Prime or AquaScience (binds ammonia). With all the above mentioned by your fellow hobbyist, there's not much else you can do. As for feeding, doesn't hurt to temp her with some live worms or even ghost shrimp ( if available near you).

I just got home after i stopped by a tackle shop to buy her some trout worms, when i got home i noticed that she's peeling.. she has a white trim around her disk, like peeling skin. need help asap. let me know plz, thank you here is a picture of it.

That doesn't look good, hope it pulls thru. Did you got this from a member here?

Well heading off to work , it's 5 am and her behaviour has changed from being always laying on the bottom to swimming constantly , taking laps around the tank then floating on the surface for a minute then she goes and starts taking laps again. At this point my hopes are not too high, wish i knew someone close that could come over and help me out with her. Hate to see this happen, never lost a fish so far. I believe the damage was done by stress from shipping and my water being a bit high in ammonia , i went and purchased a new Kit since the one i had was fairly old. My new readings were 0.09 PPM for ammonia and the rest were fine . at this point i did another water change, i hope she makes it, what baffles me is that all my other fish don't seem to be bothered a bit by this ammonia, maybe over time they adapted to it since my entire stick i had them since they were 3-5" big now they're all pushing 15". Also, everytime i do a water change the tank gets a bit cloudy for a good 1-2 days, which seems to me that some how its like its cycling all over again.. can't seem to stop that effect everytime i do a water change.

You gotta get rid of that ammonia ASAP
If you have the time, do 2-3 10-20% water changes a day. If not, try to do at least 50% every day - every other day until the ammonia is gone
Good luck!

Ive been doing water changes twice a week since am aging the water in a 55G brute, everytime I go straight from tap water my tank goes into cycle mode all over again, my tap water has very high ammonia and treating the water with prime after water changes is not enough. a bit frustrating. still at work and can't stop thinking if she's doing well. Maybe ill clean the canisters today as well change all the mech and add more bio on my sunsun's

Have you tested your tap water to be sure you dont have ammonia coming out of tap?
