blue acara is blue Dempsey?

When I bought an electric blue acara, the lady said they were made from blue Dempsey and something else.
Is this true?
I've had many demps and they don't resemble jack Dempsey in my opinion...

No, they are not bred with Dempseys. It's a color morph of normal blue acaras, just like electric blue Rams are a color morph of normal Rams and blue diamond discus are a color morph of discus.

He follows me around when I'm near the tank and eats like a pig!
He does not fear my hands when I'm rearranging the plants and decor, in fact I think on he will bite me for food.

They are peaceful with other fish though, it will completely ignore my Danios, loaches, and denison barbs. Cautious of my bichirs but won't aggressively attack them unless they nip at him.

Wish they were cheaper..

mine are fearless -they actually do bite me. I trained them to take shrimp out of my hand seemed like a cool idea at the time. Now they want my fingers.

I have 2 in my 135 with a large red sev, angels, Dennison barbs, a ctenopoma, Raphael and bumblebees cats. They're doing great. Really like these guys.
