Whew! Finished building a fish tank stand. It's for a 5 gallon(can hold 3 or 1 and my 10 long).

I don't think I mentioned it but a few weeks back my Wife and Daughter picked up some hermit crabs while were at the beach(I advised against it). Needless to say we now have a 5 gallon saltwater tank.

The problem is finding a spot for it. Which we did but it needs a stand. I've been wanting to upgrade the Betta bowl too.

The stand is 36 inches tall, 44 inches long and only 9 inches deep. I used bolts and wood screws...I think the stand is pretty strong but I'm afraid it's too top heavy, so I'm going to put extenders on the bottom.

Pictures later. I already cleaned up everything and put it away in the garage.
 
Instead of adding extenders, you can also secure it to wall stud with a steel L bracket
 
Yeah I'd go with the L bracket on the wall too that'll hold it enough to keep it stable.

Had to work bankholiday monday today but every cloud has a silver lining (or silver dollar in my case) managed to find a couple of decent sized sd's in a shop near where i was working to go with my dither shoal :) picked them up on route home
 
I don't care for them. Fidler crabs are ok though. Excuse the dirty glass I haven't clean it since I dumped the sand in. I asked the LFS if I needed to pre-wash it and they told me no(so I thought it was used). Half of them are empty shells. Only 6 are alive.

Wow im feeling old tonight my youngest is starting high school in the morning :D
 
Hahahaha I know mate were still the youngest parents outa the bunch though , the cool ones lol most of the other dads wear sandles not air max :D
