Ich in 180 gallon tank

So I have my 180 with my two oscars some gold severum and school of silver dollars but ich just broke out over the past 4 days while I was away from home and it looks like it's just getting worse I need to treat the tank but I was wondering how? Is their any medication that would be good to use and how do I treat a tank that size. My main concern is that I don't want to loose any fish and it's already spread to my parrot fish tank

Api has an ick cure product that can be used. The other option is slowly keep ur temp at 86 degrees and add salt. Monitor the ick.

hello; Do a search on ick or ich. This has been discussed many times. The safest method suggested is also reported to effective. This uses no chemicals. It is to keep the tank temperature up around 90F (please check this temp suggestion) for several weeks. I will not go into the why it works. One thing to note is to supply plenty of aeration at the elevated temps. You also might consider reducing feeding amounts.

Hello; It is my understanding that the salt acts as an irritant and encourages the slime layer on the body of the fish to thicken. It is unclear to me that the extra salt does anything to kill the parasite. The thickened slime layer may help prevent the adult parasites from attaching to more fish. As salt can have an effect on some fish there is also a trade off to consider.

Hello; may I also suggest you do a search about the ingredients of any ick cure chemicals. Over the decades several things have been used, several having not such a good track record.

Hello; May I suggest not using common equipment between an infected tank and the other tanks. If you do not have enough extra equipment, then the netas and such should be treated between uses in tanks.

I caught my ick a little early many fish showed signs of brushing against things but two or three actually had ick on them. I put salt and raised my heaters to 86. I then bought this treatment. Within a week everything was cleared up. I poured it very slowly and once or twice a day. I did a water change a week later. Thanks man I ended up loosing a couple fish in my parrot tank I lost 2 of my 6 and in the other tank I lost both severum but you were right I tried some of everything and the Ich only got worse heat was the only thing to truly clear my tank of Ich and I mean it was fast I could literally see this method working over a spans of 2 or 3 days as the parasite hatched and died, wish I would have taken your advice sooner and hadn't lost those fish. Anyways any new fish I purchase will be spending Their time in a quarenteen with the heat cranked up. Lol oh and just a quick note to put out their please advise anyone thinking of using the product mardel quick cure to think otherwise with the half dosing it killed 2 of my parrots within a day and ruined my water I had to drain it and move them to another tank they looked worse off then with the little Ich they had before I should have known better then to take advice from my lfs but oh well lesson learned.
