Ideas for 100g tank

Well I have a 30G gathering dust at the moment which I use to fatten up livebreeders. If convicts / salvinis get too rowdy, I can always put them "in detention".

Not really gathering dust. Its pretty much empty with just a guppy in it.

Why not give salvini a try they have amazing colours , easy breeders , don't get to big a pair would be fine in 4x2x2 IMO

I personally would be cautious of a salvini, get it smaller than the oscar. They can be NASTY little boogers and are much faster and more agile than any oscar I've seen.

My oscar's just hit 3" now. So I should wait for a month or 2 till he's around 5", and then I go and find convicts/salvinis half that size?

I like that combination. I have never seen a fully grown severum except online. Has anyone else kept Oscar + Severum combination?

And i've decided NO GTs, RDs or Jags! Have read up a lot on Oscar fatalities on MKF itself!! I guess its gotta be convicts, salvinis or severums. Or maybe even a pair of angels.

IMHO, nothing but perhaps a pleco to keep the glass clean. Oscar will more than fill the tank visually when full grown. I keep my lutino in a 95 with a pleco. my tigers in a 180.

curious, knowing that a Oscar out grow the 55 and looking to move to a proper size tank, (good on you for that) why would you look to over stocking the tank that's perfect for a single Oscar?
