Finally got myself a VATF

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well if you do, dithers dithers dithers lol.

Haha yeah I'm actually growing out 3 indo pacific tarpons, 3 wide bar silver dollars, 3 thin bar silver dollars and 3 red hooks for this exact reason :D

The first time I raised some separately they didn't do well together when introduced at a larger size. They do better when they are raised together from a small size. Of course that means a big tank with lots of flow.

Yeah, the biggest I can do at the moment would be my 135 for the little guys, but I'll have to wait till the big ATF gets to about 14" to have both the small ones in there.

One of my grow out tanks started to leak and the heater broke on the other. When it rains...
So I had no option but to shuffle my fishes around and I have both the little guys together in my 135 now. At been a day and no fighting as of now. It's too early to tell, I know. But I'm hoping for the best, only time will tell what happens.

And as for the big guy. He is in my 240 happily mingling with the tarpons :).

ummm a 135 would last until they're about 6 inches. Then you need to go bigger. With ATF you can never go too big.

You are totally right. Btw I overestimated the size of my big guy haha sorry about that. He is around 8-9" from head to tail as of now lol.

Awesome, looks like he is doing well. I'm still a bit confused on IDing tiger fish. Mine is also I believe a Vatf but has a larger tail and larger jaw. I'll update him in my own thread when I get a chance. Love these guys.

Thank you :), they're all doing well (Fingers crossed). I have trouble IDing the fish as well. And all three of mine are VATFs according to experts. I have noticed behavioral differences between my fish however, the small ones are really different. One of them is very reserved and a little "dumb" lol, I've had him for 5+ months and he still doesn't know when its feeding time... The other two are different, they're up and sprinting all along the wall when its feeding time.
