Algae,in your cichlid tank? Bring it on

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I like the look of that tank. IME mollies/swardtails, SAE's and roseline sharks ie dennison barbs are the best algae eaters I've ever kept.
Yeah, most livebeares will graze on algae.I have found veija are good algae grazers too.

I really like the look of that; what did you do to grow it like that? Was there anything besides window exposure?
Thanks.
No not really,in the main tank it grows well. The tank has a good oxygen supply and the water is cool about 23/24.
I change 40% a week.

I got some nasty brown algae on the back of my tank. lol had the tank for 6 years and never had green algae once.

You have the touch. That's exactly what it should look like. Very nice scape.

What type of lighting are you using? Spectrum and strength, also what size is that tank? Do you dose with ferts/Co2 etc? I really like that but I never get algae like that. Are those branches you collected or purchased driftwood branches.

Nothing wrong with Algae. You just want to keep it managed
Agreed.
Great look. Alge doesn't bug me on wood as much as on glass.
Same here.Currently, algae is no issue either way with me since I rarely have enough lights on that would support any kind of growth.
