Boy commits suicide, text messages reveal encouragement

oh I do to, to some extent, just not see jail time being part of that punishment.

folks need to realize that txt, chat , what ever aint the same as being there, do you think that if she was there she would have helped him, back into that car, gave a peck on the cheek and stood and watched him die>?

She's being tried as an adult. She also spoke to him on the phone and told him to get back in the car when he freaked out. Text messages count the same as being there. Their entire relation was through text/online...they were online boyfriend/girlfriend. I'm not sure they ever met in person

Oh they weren't even real bf/gf?

I think she played a major role in it and needs to do some time

Hello; sayings from my youth, "sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me." or "If your friend jumped off a bridge, would you do it to?" Have things changed that much?

Is this some sort of Hannibal Lector type influence?

IMHO that is not going to stick.

Best I've gathered they never met in person. There's no pics of them together.

So some of you think telling someone to kill themselves (over and over) isn't a crime? Or just that texts messages are hearsay? What's the legal defense to why this won't stick? Im intrigued by how your mind works

its txt, and she did try to talk him out of it, then gave into the "game"

random story. Friend tried to acquire insurance for her daughter AFTER her car accident and report it 2 days later. Insurance company threaten to check their phone records (texts). Based on your theory, it wouldn't count?

The way I see it in the case we're actually discussing is the only way the texts can be thrown out is if there was reasonable doubt that it wasn't her that sent them or he didn't get them. She's admitted to sending them and he responded to them. He also called her shortly before his time of death and texts proved she told him via phone call to go through with it when he called. Are you disregarding that as "it's just a phone call" too?

I call that thievery. insurance company has every right. I get insurance before my boob is blown off , not after.
