^^^^AGREED^^^^
I guess I have to go get some more items from the garage...
You know what?....I would love to see some home built acrylic boxes, brackets and badassery....and don't forget the glass tanks and home made lighting...come now people...have we all become slaves to the mass produced? The "commercially available"?
This saddens me. :(

i have couple of home made acrylic tanks though theyre only like 3-5 gallons each lol
used them for turtle/tortoise hatch-lings, betas and other type of frys and now its just
sitting in my garage lol planning to turn into a small top side filter or something havent
decided yet. someone offered me $5 a pce so they sell it in their store... lol...

You forgot, "...can I get a A-men..brutha and sistas."

"....I said, CAN I GET AN AMEN, BROTHAS AND SISTAS!!!?"
haha....I guess I do sound a little preachy...

I know there are a ton of DIY stickies and tons of ideas displayed therein....but the stuff I'm looking for is unique tweeks and things done better than standard....and by better I mean cheaper. Cheaper is what DIY is all about.....the satisfaction of building a system for $100 vs $1,000....
Not using "hobby stamdard" because you have figured out a better way is what we should be sharing with each other.

I fugured out a way to get 5gallons of bioballs in my sump and only take an 8" diameter space in the sump. The bioballs are up out of the water the way they were designed and the whole idea was basically free....

Most my diy lately has involved slapping a bunch of JB water weld on things and calling it a day lol. Currently running 3 Jb weld fixes on 1 system lol. I'll have some diy to contribute in a few weeks time, it's in the works.

millerkid519 millerkid519 drilled the tank sitting in my kitchen that he built right on the stand I built for it. Never seen it done in person before then, never would I hesitate to do it now that I have seen it. Quite normal to be nervous about it the first time around especially if it's a tank you like or you don't know how replace glass, but honestly if you go slow and steady and keep good water in it, tape up the back wide enough for a catch, an the glass isn't tempered you can do it every time.

I believe in getting a cracked or junk aquarium and just start drilling holes in it. One after the other...break the panel, move to an undroken panel. I have seen aquariums at the thrift store for $10...
Good practice and practice builds confidence.

You drilled only one hole ina 125?
I drilled a hole in a 500lb granite boulder once.....
I tried a 10g and broke the glass with the drill chuck key...I dropped it after tightening the chuck that had the holesaw I was drilling the 10g with.....
