MY DOG WAS ATTACKED BY 2 PITBULLS TODAY

I used to hate having my dogs on the leash, when other people would have their dogs unleashed and out of control; sometimes they'd run up and attack my dogs, which creates a whole load of crap. Cause then you have to either just let your dog go and fight to protect himself, if you try to pull him away on the lead etc, it just puts him in a weak and vulnerable position, open for attack.
That is partly why a lot of dog owners around here carry a nice sized stick when they are out walking their leashed dogs.

I was in the same boat until a poodle attacked our German Shepard on a walk. I think the poodle was lucky to have escaped with the few slight injuries from a leashed buzz saw instead of being hit by an unleashed buzz saw intent on nuteralizing the threat.

Sorry, what I mean to suggest is; dogs should really be leashed at all times, if there is any chance of danger

Here's a pic of the poor girl 24hrs after attack, you can see the swollen area in lower throat area but she seems totally unfazed by incident.

Been lurking as a guest for a while now, it's awfully sad a thread like this is what brings me to comment... As an owner of two pit bulls and having a great understanding about how this breed is, I'd say anyone who blames the breed is simply thick skulled and doesn't care to learn any better..

Rule number 1 never introduce your dog to 2 dogs that have been together for some. That is a no, no.

Must not have been lurking for very long if this thread convinced you to join.

Anyways, I think it's pretty ballsy to introduce your dog to two dogs on their ground. Props for trying it though. Never an easy thing to do.

I normally stay out of discussions and just try to learn things as I go..

I feel bad for what happened and I'm glad everyone in the situation seems ok but that's not how you introduce dogs..

"Yeah sure come on by and introduce your dog to both of my bully breed companions simultaneously in their territory with more dogs than people holding leashes".. just doesn't sound smart to me at all, and for someone to not have that understanding, screw it up, and then come rant about pit bulls online is just plain foolish.
