Jag, Midevil, or other

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
And you're the second person to say the jags grow slow but I've never seen a slow growing jag before. Only jags that hit 10"+ in their first year.

If midevil starts to out grow a 75 you will have PLENTY of time to plan for it if once it hits 12 and starts heading toward 15 its time to start thinking upgrade

As for why i dont like the Angels-

Not a personality thing. Ive actually had them for a while (1.5 week) and they already nibble at my fingers. Which surprised me, as they warmed up incredibly fast.

Might still keep one of the nicer ones.

But i thought maybe i would like the peaceful tank, where i didnt have to worry too much about aggression.

Ive found that i really like the glass-banging behavior that my Texas has (i still have him, he is in a smaller tank for a bit until i get a 40B. Dont want to part with him) and the Severum/Angels just dont have that.

So a wet-pet it is, i think. I dont want to do the Carpinte because it is a bit small to fill up the tank alone IMO.

Would a male Jag work for a while? I know they dont grow too fast in the first place and they slow down. And not all of them get huge. I mean, between genetics, different diets and different environments before i get them, they cant all be able to grow to 14"+ even in a big tank.

I am very on top of WC.

What ya think?

I've owned several jags and seen plenty over the yrs. 14" is a smaller male. Do not underestimate the potential. I've played this game before on average you have less than 2 yrs until it will outgrow your 75. However my male motas have been more aggressive than my jags and just as interactive. The only amph I would suggest for a 75 would be a lyonsi.

Also a male istlanum is a super nice 75g wet pet as long as you don't slip on your water quality.

I would stay away from the male jag in a 75, I find females are more personnel than males any ways.
and if looking for a bigger cichlid I would go a one fish tank with a 75g, perhaps a gibby to keep thinks scrubbed down, but that is it. IMHO
