Long tanks low volume

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's a smart looking HOB
The smallest one(Aqua-tech) I could find at Walmart(it's for up to 15 gallons). I didn't want it to be too strong for the betta. He's been spending all his time on the other end of the tank.

I'm thinking to add a bristlenose and maybe some cherry barbs.

Cool :) if it were me, I'd add some nerites; possibly easier on the bioload than the bristlenose.

It appears the person at the fish store got me a rupperlip. instead of an albino bristlenose. I didn't pay attention when I had the chance, now that it's in the tank...it looks gray. I need to take a deeper look.

Is it a bulldog? Cause I have one, pretty nifty; if you can transfer him to a bigger tank they make for nice little plecos :)

P.s not my pic

This guy is very tiny...I can't even get my phone camera to focus on him. I think he was stressed out. He's getting a little bit lighter. I'm going back to thinking he is indeed an ABN.

With Plecos being my favorite fish...I have to have one in the tank. If only LDA025 were easy to find. They are the smallest plecos I'm aware of. They are about the size of an otto.

quick update, no ill-effects observed from the newt presence in the tank; still watching like a hawk!

Update on this guys, eventually ended up raising the water level; was finding that the 4-5 inch depth was freaking out the minnows.

Newts are in their own tank now, so I added a breeding pair of keyholes to this one; seen a clutch of eggs, but nothing came of it :(

Fingers crossed it happens again.

Looking good.

An update on my 10 long. I got 3 cherry barbs back when I got the ABN. They have since died off. Even the Betta died(I guess he didn't like the extra room). I replaced the Betta with another look-a-like. My daughter is non the wiser. I thought about getting more cherry barbs but haven't done it yet. I'm now thinking to put some of my rosy's from the 5 gallon in the Betta tank. They are all doing good.

They ABN is doing ok. He stays on the glass all the time.
