So I made a DIY overhead sump thingy...
I got the plastic container from HomeD for $6, the fountain pump from Harbor Freight for $15...200gph...had the pvc and the rest of the stuff....works amazing....of course the tank it is on is a 10g....I am using it as a hospital right now, but I plan on using the sump for pothos....

Haha they made me cringe the first time to.
All I do is keep tightening up the vise grips little by little until it starts the break. Then work the break lone across the glass. I'm good enough now I can score and snap 3/8 with out hesitating 1/2 is a little more tricky but then again it has all been glass that is about 15 20 years old

Showing the girlfriend how to build and she is doing very well she picked how we did everything and I helped her by walking her threw every step. I know it is excessive for a 35g over a 30g but practice makes perfect and all the material is laying around. She is doing better then I did my first few times!

2 years later and it still feels like a work in progress. I added 2 overhead sumps for pothos, filter socks, and extra media. Can't afford an Ultima filter so I bought a used Hayward and added some screen and filled with Ultima media. Might not be as effective but I am very happy with it. And also finally added a drip system to the tanks. Not real pretty but gets the job done.20160102_141947.jpg 20160102_141855.jpg 20160102_141523.jpg 20160102_141805.jpg

75 gallon in tank filter, the baffle holds bio balls or k1 in suspension with air bubbles, the middle is a fluidized sand filter, the far left is a mechanical.
Power by a 2000 GPH sump pump. 4 valves, and crazy plumbing.

Nothing has been glued yet.
