There's no plastic strip on the glass? The glass covers the entire opening?

Ya it got the versa glass cover and it just have a flip able cover to open to feed the fish. Do I have to cut the glass to put a hob in it?

You can cut the glass. Score your opening for the filter and use the score and tap method.
1 What you do is score the hole opening for the filter and set it on a towel.
2 flip the cutter over and tap the glass until you start the break in your lid
3 follow the break around taping slightly and an inch away from the break keeping pressure between where you tap and the pressure.

It will work as long as you do not go to a square corner keep your corners rounded on the glass

I have a spare piece of glass I can score it and take pics of how to do it if anyone would like me to

Can I use a machine to cut the glass? Any1 know if I can use homedepot pool filter sand since I can't get any estes sand around here?

Did you buy this setup brand new from a shop?

If so, you were given the wrong size glass covers. Go back to the shop and return it for the proper size. Manufacturers do not expect the consumers to score and cut glass canopies in order to make access for filters, wires, tubings, etc. Glass canopies should be shorter than the depth of the tank and come with a plastic strip that once installed, perfectly covers the entire tank opening.
