Nice tank and all, awesome plumbing -- great job....but, HOW'S THAT DOG! First post, saw the pics, and lo and behold--you've got a FINE ANIMAL sniffing at the side of the tank making sure it's OK to go in the house.

You should count yourself lucky to have a dog like that watching over you. :)

That's my 10 year old boy, Bailey. Mostly he watches over plates of food and "protecting" my wife lol. For a lab, he's kind of an A hole, but I wouldn't trade him for the world. 20160117_141639-1.jpg 20150627_151458-1.jpg

Im thinking about using this kind of style overflow too how did you set up your return line?

I just ran pvc up the back of the tank and used 90's to bring it in the tank. I'm not using loc lines or spray bar. Just straight out of the pvc. I painted the pvc going into the tank black to match the background.

Still have a long way to go, but got the old tank tore down and the new one in the house today. Had to tear down and move the old one to make room for the new one. Been a long day haha. Still need to rinse the sand to put in, do more with the decor, and clean up wires and stuff in the stand. Will save that for another day.

Tank looks great! One suggestion, and maybe you have done so already, but I would mount that power strip on the side of your stand instead of laying on the bottom. If you have a leak, you might have a greater mess.

Thank you. That is on the to do list, just haven't done it yet lol

Oh and yes, a gate valve is ideal. Just easier to fine tune. But you're fine once dialed in. I'm sure it's quiet.

Glad to see this come together for you slime. Nice drain pipes.

Thank you! It was the help of you and many others on this site that helped me with the understanding of a set up like this. Absolutely loving this set up vs my old one with canisters.

Yes, I don't have to mess with the valve really at all now. It is an extremely quiet set up. I did put a different emergency standpipe in that was about 3/4" taller to raise the water level in the overflow box. After that.... silence.
