Hello. I was fortunate enough to get a couple true parrots for $25 a pice at about 3"-4" several months back. Recently I've only seen a couple spots that have them available and for a ~5" fish they seem to be closer to $100. I imagine most of these are wild caught. Is there a season for them or has the price just gone up?

Thats what usually my lfs charges around 100 for 4-5' ones. Should've bought it for that 25 dollar price!!!

Go to the same LFS tell them you lost one and was seeing if you can get some more for you in. Sometimes just asking them they will get them in just for you if they weren't going to.

Thanks. Yep. They have them at one of my LFS. They're just quite a bit more expensive than they were. I wondered since it seems like they don't spawn to reading in captivity if there was a season for them or something. The ones I got I'm may were around 3"-4" and now are ~6". That's what size they're selling now.

We paid $75 for our 4-5" wild caught True Parrot (Hoplarchus psittacus). $25 is a great price. From what I've read, they can be quite temperamental with conspecifics and get fairly large. Jim Cumming has successfully bred them in his care.
