15 minute beat down

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well reintroduced the trimac about 45 minutes ago. He really is a dick...lol not as crazy bad as before, he's chasing the flowerhorn, but not really biting him. He did take a break from chasing though to scuffle with the oscar, chase the texas & small festae. I'm thinking if he doesn't quit his dick ways I will donate him to the fish store. The tank is relatively peaceful otherwise, for what should be a much more rambunctious crew.

WOAH same thing happened to mine. Mine is a female though and hurts anything new in the tank. I just stuck her in the damn sump too lol! I'm selling her now shes mean as hell. She hurts everything that she can. She looks so evil too.
My tank is so peaceful without her. Funny thing all the males squashed their male cockiness but the females get so damn hormonal lol

Lol, mine got all darkmode...can lightly see stripping, and his spots are intesely black. Red in his throat and fins looks good...but he literally snapped yesterday. He's been chasing or fighting something since I've put him back in today.

Mine is always like that! Thats when I knew shes gone into crazy mode. Funny thing is she won't mess with smaller texas but will try to kill any flowerhorn I add. I added a bigger flowerhorn and had to take him out. Shes either going to be sold or going to be in my sump until I figure out what to do with her. I had enough of them now I forgot how crazy they're. I used to own two like 6 years ago.

I started with 3 and re-homed a male and female when they started team beating other fish. The trimac I have exploded in growth when I removed those two and started becoming a jerk. There are 4 fish bigger than him, that he doesn't bother and oddly enough steers clear of the slightly smaller chancho. Aside from that he is a jerk to everyone he thinks he could take. I have noticed though any flowerhorn I have owned seems to be a wimp...

Well the trimac is back in the sump... started pummeling the flowerhorn again. He also managed to remove some scales from the oscar. Seems to wind up the whole tank. Going to keep him in the sump for awhile and give him one more chance to fit in. Maybe a week or two, to give everyone time to heal up.

I did this to a very mean midas who wasn't playing nice and he never ever changed. The second I put him back he drew blood lmao

Here is his day's work, beaten fh, torn fins on the texas, and some removed scales on the oscar... and a pic of my 10" jd, who the trimac fears...lol

Giving fish time outs and moving around the decor never worked for me. Eventuallly the pecking order wpuld always reset and the same issues would arise.

Unfortunately I'm thinking the same may be true in my case. My hope is the time out will result in faster growth for those in the main tank and slowed growth for the trimac, so when he is reintroduced size will be closer. I'm guessing this may take a 2-3 week time out... I just hate to get rid of him, but he is a trouble maker.
