Yeah think again Im in Austin, the best deal I've ever seen was for one that was like just over 3 ft a real beautiful silver arowanna and they were asking like $200 and I was tempted to buy him but passed as I have no where to put the guy now or at the time and that's funny for a 3 inch your looking at $40 dollars minimum up to $75 more regularly and that's at any petstore around me none of these guys are cheap and most of these fish look pretty low grade having defects in one way or another oh and if not that they will have beaten and tattered fins/scales and good luck getting these fish established in any tank without them turning belly up in the first week or two I tried to help one that looked alittle rough I dropped like $45 on him when I first got into keeping bigger fish honestly I only had him for a few days I was keeping him in perfect water even started eating for me after a day or so but he had this weird kink in his back and started acting strange it got worse and he died later that week since then I stopped buying fish that look like **** if it's not something I know I can cure like ich. Anyways the most affordable as well as the nicest place I've gone recently for fish and supplies is the fish gallery their cheaper on the arowana about $35, still alittle overpriced on other fish like Severums and other cichlids but from what I've noticed they often offer better quality fish as well so I guess you get what you pay for. The most ridiculous place I've seen was Aquatek not to long ago they had a regular silver arowana for like $140 he was maybe 7-8 inches looked nice but what were they thinking?? Seriously? They sometimes sell actually they always sell everything at this store for about twice what its worth I've recently stopped shopping here for anything I won't even go in and look around anymore the only way I will go to this shop is for trade ins because they give 50% credit which is basically full price what I payed for the fish or even more to begin with. Lol so I guess someone else can overpay but I've stopped going unless I've got enough store credit to pickup what I need.
That is really crazy I can't believe that I knew some states over price fish but jeez that's crazy

Yeah man I know it sucks id really like to get a couple arowana and grow them out maybe even go to my parents and put one in the koi pond once they got large but not for the price almost all of these stores are asking. And yeah it sucks but this goes with a couple different fish discus are pretty overpriced around me too and I mean their even overpriced for discus if that says something, Flowerhorns are even worse and that's if you can find one, atleast these two are somewhat understandably expensive because they are a pretty expinsive fish to start off and are know to be costly but I see even the ugliest low grade flowerhorn as well as discus with bad color/markings going for way to much around me and honestly it's because their are no quality breeders in my area, I feel like most of the stores/people selling them are just trying to make as much as possible off of individuals who know these fish can be expinsive without knowing it's also dependent on the quality and breed or species.

Insane! Where I live you'll be lucky to find an exotic fish period almost all stores you find are all salt water it's depressing for hobbyist I haven't purchased online because I don't truly trust that and the shipping cost makes the fish overpriced lucky for me I found this cute girl that works at pet supermarket and if I want something she tries her best to find it and at the size I want for me and she gives a little discount from the original price as well another thing I like about her is if ANY exotic fish comes in she informs the customer about the fish and if they don't have the proper tank/pond and knowledge on the fish she won't sell it to them I love that because a lot of people won't do that then you have people throwing them into ponds and lakes or the fish dies from stunt growth

That's the most recent baby monster I got from her

Is that a clown knifefish I can't find much of those in Florida
Florida recently got arowanas and FH and they cheap like 25 bucks for baby arowana and 10 bucks for a FH baby
Damn! yeah I wish man. And if their pretty small that's common most places just not here with me also when buying FH it's hit or miss
