Move? No...I still live where I am (do I know you?)...filtration-large scale filtration for aquariums. Like 500 gallons +... But have an interest in water purification in general....

Chicago doesn't have any good lfs. They have some decent ones but that's about it. You have to get to know breeders and go to these meets to find out who has what

Well dang. No wonder the Mid-West doesn't do anything. The options are slim to none. What about a road trip to that new million dollar LFS in Detroit? Almost went by myself after seeing the post someone made about it.

Yes and are also members and get together at NJAS meetings (and came from NJ and hung out at CCA's "Big Fish Deal" event).

Do what you like but what you're trying to organize is already happening...

Yea I see that now. Never really been into the convention scene though so I am learning what all comes around. Started this thread basically to just get a group together and go do something. The Chicago Aquatic Experience looks like a winner.

There arebunches of clubs throughout the midwest that have monthly meetings as well (not just conventions). Some are bigger and/or better than others, some are focused on cichlids, some more broadly but the common theme is that they're a group of people who are into fish who get together to hang out, and probably grab something to eat and check out LFS or someone's fishroom before or after. Kind of like what you're trying to put together...
