What are they? Festae MAY be included here, despite recent genus changes, and any others still "in question" for the genus. Please include new updated taxonomy if possible
Ive heard Festae called an Amph species a lot before... They show little similarity so idk if they were actually moved there, but lots of people have referred to them as an Amphilophus. Here's the taxonomy history from Cichlid Room Companion:
Heros festae, Boulenger, 1899:6, original combination
- Heros (Heros) festae, Pellegrin, 1904, new combination
- Cichlosoma (Parapetenia) festae, Regan, 1905, new combination
- Cichlosoma festae, Regan, 1906, new combination (Parapetenia)
- Cichlasoma festae, Eigenmann, 1923, new combination
- 'Cichlasoma' festae, Kullander, 1983, new combination (Nandopsis)
- Nandopsis festae, Burgess, 2000, new combination
- Mesoheros festae, McMahan et al, 2015:228, new combination
Sorry to derail...
