African knife fish would be better I reckon
This thread is over four months old. This problem has already been resolved. My elephant nose died of ich, so I don't have to worry about this anymore.

It can as one is active in the day and the other is more active at night. Give two separate caves or hiding spaces for each to reside and should be good.

Would it work if I just bought another knife fish tube? I already have one and I could set the other on the other side of the tank, unless I can set them both together.

I assume that the African knife is the one that is active during the day.

I guess I can ask this now that someone looked back into the thread... Could an African knife live with a Bgk with little or no trouble.
From what I've seen the African knife is more flexible too.

In general smaller knives with electric fields are not keen with feeling the other. Especially not of their own kin. Would keep 2 tubes on either side of the tank.

They can be agressive to other. Hence two separate tubes or hiding places. Also the bgk will get bigger and can bully other smaller fish.

Yes the African knife is active in daytime mainly. Bgk is a nocturnal fish.

They are both flexible as long as u understand what ur working with.
