That's a good way to look at it.Any fish that stays in approximately the same spot in a river is basically living in a constant water change. As long as temp and parameters aren't fluctuating hugely and your fish aren't terrified because of the disturbance, there's no such thing as too many water changes. My silver dollars would probably die of panic if I upped the number of water changes much further, but a smarter and less easily terrified species of fish would probably realize that it wasn't in danger.
