Green terror tank mates? (Non-cichlids)

Wailua boy, I can see that but an equal sized cichlid like a jack Dempsey isn't a dither lol especially in a 75 gallon.

why not? I almost always have the 3 species in with larger more dominant fish and they are never the tank boss.....they are a great "fill in the gaps" fish. Even if you breed them for feederfish, a few might make it and survive and end up being nice little additions. As far as JDs, you already know I like keeping them in harems of 1M ; 3-6F. A group of them w/ a 15" Amph or Jags or GT or whatever the bosses are, will certainly be a force finding safety in numbers and will also be much more active and less shy. This is one of the main reasons to keep them like this.

ok sure but a few adult JDs are a great dither for almost ANY adult fish in the 12"- 30" range if you can make it work

With this logic any fish can be a dither. Why not some salvini, a couple female jags, and black belt. Oh wait, now we just have a cichlid community tank.
I think you're confusing "dither" with "tank mate". Because I will agree that jack Dempseys do well with a varitey of fish but that doesn't make them dithers.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think the point was that a decent sized group of JD can function the same as the more traditional dither fish when in a more rough and tumble setup
