I prefer acrylic....easier to drill out or make changes to. While everyone is commenting on acrylic and scratches, although it doesn't happen as easily glass scratches also. I have a 75g and a 125g both glass and both with scratches from cichlids redecorating their tanks, if they were acrylic I could buff that out.

I see other members post pics of their fish and the ones in acrylic tanks are so clear and bright i really look forward to that. I actually priced glass too and i was shcokwd that they were allot more expensive than acrylic. Both were quoted at 96x30 and 36 x 24 3/4 acrylicc and the glass was 5/8. 3/4 glass was ridiculous $$
Yeah the acrylic pricing seems to be a decreasing trend in price per gallon at a certain size. Glass tanks are cheaper until you get to the large sizes then the price advantage of glass vs acrylic becomes a moot point.
If the acrylic is the proper thickness it will definitely cost more then glass. Be careful when you buy a acrylic tank. Don't buy one because the price is good. Buy one thats made properly.Dont take any chances. A lot of water is involved and can destroy your home.
Thats not true. Like i said i quoted glass at 5/8 and acrylic at 3/4. The glass was more and at the 3/4 thickness was just ridiculous
I asked the other members what they thought. All said a 96x36x24 ahould be 3/4. The builder also said he wouldnt do 1/2 and 1 inch was overkill
Like I said --- 3/4 is thicker then 5/8 and 1 inch acrylic is a lot of money. Compare larger tanks as well. Like 500 gal and up. Then you will really see how much thicker the acrylic gets and how expensive it really is. Just call up ATM or Living color. Get it from the professionals.
