So ive just recently started setting up a new 180g 6ft tank. im planning on moving in the angels, tiger barbs, bala sharks, and ropefish i have in my 55 gallon. i was looking for ideas for other unique guys to add in that would be fun/compatible. I really would like to add an eel, and some other oddballs.

You could go with a poly, just make sure it doesn't go unfed or you won't see the ropefish again. I love cichlids, and I think some more would look nice in your tank. Fish like Firemouths, Severum, and EBA have a lot of personality and color. You could also try a more peaceful knifefish, like a BGK. Mine never bothers the tank mates.

i had a cichlid tank once but they were only housed with cichlids and a pleco arent most pretty aggressive?? i heard they would not be good with the bala sharks especially because their shiny and would get nipped.

My Cichlids don't bother my Balas. The only reason your Balas would get chases around is if they were small. Smaller fish tend to see more aggression from cichlids. Yes, poly as in bichir.

i do like BGKs one of them would definitely fit. i do want some type of mid-large eel though was looking at zig zags or peacocks trying to figure out which or another type of eel that would fit the tank best.

I had a half banded spiny eel and I loved it. They only get 8", so tank size won't be an issue, and it's personality was amazing. It was exploring the tank for most of the day, and then it slept in a hole in my driftwood during the night. It was fun to watch sleep, because I'd only see the eels head coming out of the wood.
