Nothing lasts forever.
10 years isn't bad.
It's about a penny a day. I'd say it's a good bang for the buck.

I'm not quite sure what you're upset about, or why you're considering changing brands.

The reason is if I didn't catch this when I did it could've potentially killed my fish not my temps but by having the elements leak into the tank kind of how king of diy did.

You're right I shouldn't switch brands I just needed to vent a little bit and thought heaters lasted long. I guess I been lucky I have an aqueon heater and a tetra that lasted me as long as my eheim. Granted they weren't used every year but been used for at least 4 years consistently.

Pulling the trigger today its crazy how much my LFS charges compared to Amazon lol

Also note that mine is actually not a eheim.

Its made by EBO jager and later on they got bought out by eheim...

Maybe the reason mine lasted as long as it did is because its old school and things were made better?

The newer eheim heaters are garbage. I just tossed one withat water on the inside of the tube. Luckily, that heater is only used to heat ro water. I run Finnex titanium heaters in all of my tanks. They looks great, heat well, don't take up much space, and will not shatter. The only issue I've had with the Finnex heaters is they all, and I mean every single one, read about 3 degrees high. Once you get the temp you want though, they are very stable and sensitive to temp change.

Just bought the eheim jager heater lol oh we'll cross fingers now

my jagers heated to 29 celcius when set to 25, I am just using the one of the 2 and it is maintaining temp

Yeah didn't king of diy lose both of his rays with a bad heater

I had the opposite problem with mine. Had the temp set to 80, and they wouldn't kick on until it dropped to 76. Then heat all the way to 81, then off again.

I might just buy the finnex heater just incase the jager is bad. I'll use it on another project if anything lol
