nab the kittens , keep them indoors for a month. feed em give them a litter box and they will come around, once adult feral, always feral.
Hello; When I was a lad I came across some untame kittens. I picked one up and soon regerted it (play on the tatoo commercial). Got scratched and bitten. Anyway they are too quick and are not tiny.

also if you going to take them in, get them fixed, all our cats fixed, if you look places will do it cheap or for nothing every few months.

Hello; Not sure if I will take a cat inside as I have had some mild allergic reactions in the past.

unless you get them young, they well never be handled.

Hello; I hope this does not derail this thread. (by the way I am not sure what the thread is about?) A stray cat has taken up residence near my place. It may be feral as it will not let me get close. I have been putting out some food the last several weeks. The cat wil eat when I am not around and is less skittish, but 20 feet is about as close as I can get.

I figgure there is no real hope of getting it to be a pet, but do not mind having it around as my neighbors have rats under their house.

Here is the wrinkle. The cat was apparently a femae as there are now two kittens also. The kittens are also not approachable. They are perhaps too old to be tame?
Here is the question; does anyone have any tricks to tame feral cats. I can put food out but can do no more as long as they are not approachable.
Those sound like feral cats of the type that we have all over the grounds at work.
Some people leave food bowls around for them but they don't have real human contact and one can't get closer than five feet from them before they run off.I have even seen someone try to "rescue" some kittens and nearly get their hand tore off....by the kittens lol.
I guess about all you can do is get some cage traps, bait em,catch em and turn them over to a humane center.
.....and,what's up with the rats under your neighbor's house?

baiting and trapping probably the best ideal, our cats bring home field mice, moles, gerbals, bats, birds, and rats. they all live in the country or next to a green belt.

I am sure they would also bring home possums and skunks if they could kill em.

At work I have seen ferals gang up and chase off red foxes.

I just chased hunter out the door with a 6" rat in his mouth, keep em outside. I do not want your dead. this is not,
