12x8x8

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just 3 plucky "volunteers" just now lol, to see if the water is ok; they look well though, I'm getting brown diatoms, hoping it fades out though, the light is only 4 watt over 12 litres, so 0.3wpl. I'll add more and hopefully get them breeding regularly.

Ive ordered another 12x8x8, once cycled I'm gonna take the plunge on crystal reds I think, I've got RO water sorted, TDS meter, Gh and Kh kits on hand, and plan on purchasing reminersalising agent.
Are RCS so much work?

if you can provide proper temps and setting, and find a local breeder most are pretty hardy these days...

I think even Crystal Reds / King Kongs etc which are a little more delicate are being more widely bred locally making them more used to that countires water...

The only shrimp i find here are cherry and occasionally ghost or glass or whaterver shrimp it is. I saw an ad for bumblebee shrimp and at about £5 a piece after rand to pound exchange

I just picked up a little all glass 5 gallon tank and looking for a small filter like that one. Only ones I've been able to find I do not like.

Start out with cherries first then, as they are probably the most forgiving and most accepting of wider temp ranges...

Then once you get the hang of it, start moving up the ladder to more expensive species such as Crystal Reds etc...

Also, a simple sponge filter, substrate, driftwood and plants will do wonders for a shrimo tank...

This. Also, for anyone considering shrimp; if they haven't kept them before, they make for very entertaining tank inhabitants, giving you breeding, colour, activity; and ability to fit into virtually any size of tank
