If i can find shrimp or any type of low maintenance carpet plant you have me. I also have some flourite dark that i havnt used in the small tank that i could incorporate when i do a slightly bigger scaped tank one day

try monte carlo and red cherry shrimp, i guarantee you won't be disappointed. just make sure you don't over light it, add some weekly ferts and water changes and it'll likely take off. It's often compared to the low maintenance version of Hemianthus Callichtricoides (spelling? :P)

here's a monte carlo carpet in my 30l betta tank, no co2; you can see some cherry shrimp ambling at the bottom as well, providing a nice colour contrast

I do not have ferts. Only seachem flourish :/ i will look out for monte carlo. Looks really cool.

I showed my teacher my scape amd now she wants one if it isn't too expensive lol. I should compile some ideas for her. Im sure she doesnt mind what i do since she likes fish but has no clue how to look after them

lol do it, you'd put mine to shame :P

Dont say that!!! Yout aquascapes keep looking better and better....

Infact i wouldnt want to go head to head against you in doing a tank scape contest hahahaha...

I didnt find more similar rocks (i actually suspect it is cement or something) but i have some smooth stones to add to the bottom

Redid it. I am on the lookout for monte carlo and shrimp. If my betta passes on then i will look at ember tetras (i love these) or any other micro tank fish, any ideas?. I would really love malache bettas. Wonderful colour.

In vitro plants are a good option for MC.

I'd try the shrimp first, see how you go; Betta may decide they are tasty lol, in which case you could add a tonne of moss to protect them, or set up a separate tank :)

Here's an update of the trio project of mini's, at different stages of progression. Hope to have all 3 running in the next month :)

Man, so amazing. love love love them. Please keep posting update pics.

So I am getting pretty excited too about setting up a tank.

I've found several rimless options, trying to choose among these:

20x20x12 (20 gallon) for $120 from LFS
18x11x12 (10 gallon) ADA high quality tank from specialty store for $150

12x12x12 and 14x9x10 ADA high quality options, but I don't know if I want to go under 10 gallons. Too worried about maintaining water quality and about the guppies making the tank look too small.

The fluval edge 6 gallon is tempting, but might be too small, same concerns as before. The 12 gallon would be perfect but I hate the shape. Too high!

There is also a 20x20x20 but I think thats too big!

Decisions decisions!!! Leaning towards the ADA 18x11x12 right now!!
