I simply unpacked my tank, added cycled media and a fish and off i went. Later i got some sand from a friend and a proper light and decided to scape. If there is anything you need to know there is nano god convict and fish nut Hendre right here to help

Haha, I appreciate the kind words; however Fat Homer Fat Homer is the guy you want to talk to lol, he's the one that got me into the shrimp game, haven't forgiven him since ;)

Final third mini shrimp tank ready for cycling and planting, this theme is simply driftwood; with a plan to surround it with a carpet of Monte Carlo for crystal reds. Either that or the black bee shrimp, haven't decided on who's going where yet!

Takes a little imagination to see this scape just now, but I imagine it won't take too long to take off :)

As you can see, it still needs some tender care; bubbles need smoothed out at the back, needs more scrubbing; then filtered and lit, but it doesn't need to be expevsive or anything, I'd try and imagine the end product for what you're going for, as it'll look a lot different planted :)

convict360 convict360 You made 3 people want to get a nano tank but haven't even provided an article...

All I know now is that the tank I want is fine and the only fish I can keep with dwarf puffers are otos.

Lol!

I don't actually have any known articles on them, it's just a case of get a tank cycled, pick a nutrient rich plant substrate (if you want plants), or whatever floats your boat; then get creative with rocks, wood, or whatever you can find :D

You then only need to worry about what plants you want, if you want hard growing species, then you're gonna have to look into co2 supplementation and balanced fertilisers as well as adequate lighting. Conversely, if keeping it low maintenance, you may wish to keep lighting low, no co2, and minimal ferts.

All 3 scapes I'll do, will have zero co2, not even liquid carbon. It'll have light ferts, low light and that's it. It might fail, it might do well; that's part of the fun challenge lol.

I'll try and find a good article for you guys though, could help me with some knowledge too! Standby

That is an awesome article, thanks for sharing.

Quick question, are shrimps generally okay with fancy guppies? I would like a tank with a lot of activity.

I'm already thinking black sand, black background, small piece of wood and maybe some small sea shells or cones that I have. Can't wait. And love that it won't cost an arm and a leg.

Oh, and since the tank is so small...do you not use a heater??

^ heaters tend not to be needed in shrimp tanks unless temps drop below say 17'C - 18'C...

Over here for example, people like myself tend to worry more about the heat then the cold...

Also, if you want ideas for tank setup, check out the ADA aquascape contests, thats where i got a lot of inspiration for my tanks in the past...

Or even look up the GreenMachine in the UK, they have some good tutorials on how to setup a tank, just need to scale back everything in size to turn them into mini aquascapes...
