Man, you get me thinking about getting one of those small Fluval and taking a stab at this aquascape...I like the looks. I failed with plants after a year in my "big" tank, but I think having a small one would be more manageable for plants...could throw in a few little fishes my kids like (that wouldn't survive with the Lei...LOL).

Is the tank on the right Starphire glass? Aside from being thicker it doesn't have the green tint the higher iron oxide glass has.

Not sure of starphire, but I bought as optiwhite I.e. low iron content, so it's probably the same.

I think the thing about nano's, is yeah most of us love the huge tanks; but sometimes it's nice to have absolute control over a tank (massive tanks sometimes don't give you that feeling lol), and the opportunity to be creative without Oscars ripping out plants, or catfish eating inhabitants etc. Just another branch of the hobby :)

Also dont use an airpump designed to put out 90 litres per hour in your 20 litre tank. I love the stream of bubbles but it is rather loud and a bit much current. I might pick up a small airpump this weekend when i visit the garden center.

Pinning an airstone under a central rock looks really nice and helps break the surface.

As for fluval do it. Professional looks and i really want one. Mine is a 'beginners' tank that took forever to clean of hard water stains and marks and still has one. Atleast it was free :)

I think if it's low iron content, it likely is starphire or some variation. My tank is made from that as well, hence noticed the difference in tints.

Yeah, the good thing about small tanks for aquascaping is it's not a pain in the a** to maintain compared to big tanks and sticking my entire arm to my shoulders into the tank (unless I want to drain) ;-)

Cmon convict stop liking my posts ( you are still welcome to continue :p) and join in the conversation

Its really nice and calming, just dont slam the desk drawers. I made my betta so scared he hid for 4 hours

Hahaha that made me laugh out loud.

So yeah I was thinking of getting a 20 gallon with guppies for my son but this seems like another really cool option too.

Maybe a 5-10 gallon rimless with some sweet aquascaping and a few guppies and shrimp.

Having complete control over the tank is totally a draw for this kind of setup. Something you don't get with bigger tanks.

No idea where to find a rimless tank in Canada tho. Doesn't seem like anyone stocks them.

It's worth contacting different stores to find out if they have a main supplier of custom tanks, if there's money to be made; you can be sure someone there is doing their best to part you from your cash in offer of these beautiful little tanks lol

Yes! Just found a place in Guelph, which is about an hour and half away, but I think is totally worth checking out. Lots of rimless tanks and other high end things on their site.

Angelfins. I'm sure there are Canadian members here who have been there. Seems top notch.
