Haha it is very possible for me to make a bad scape, I think if you seen a professional aquascape you'd rate mine less! :p
You look world class compared to what I've done in my 20 and 210.

Hopefully I can do I lot more with this tank and do it easier since it will be smaller and I don't need as much material to create the same product.

The next thing convict is going to do is brainwash everyone on the forum to get a nano tank, and then use his nano-fish-keeping army to force an admin to make a sticky on nano tanks...

Lol a sticky would be superb, but there's not much info other than imagination for them; everything has to be miniature or nearest to. Anything big will ruin the illusion, such as a larger leaved Anubias etc.

Best approach imo is to have something drawing the eye, with enough space left for plants and inhabitants.

Hopefully I can get some Cherry barbs in the tank if the puffers would allow. I know their color would draw attention, or at least my attention.

I personally wouldn't do that combo, barbs are quite fast; puffers slow; they may out compete on food, or end up with missing chunks of fins...what size tank is it again?

Java fern looks different based on the nutrients it gets etc, the one I have was getting heavy ferts, major water changes and enough light; I find it can go a bit brown and straggly though, which mighy happen to mine since being moved! Or you might have a minor variation, there are quite a few!
Yeah, I have crappy light and use no ferts or co2, all it gets is fish waste and some cruddy light from an almost 9 month old cheap bulb. :D

Although the leaves are tiny on it so it would work well in one of your "optical illusion" tanks. :P

Speaking of which, I can't get shrimp down here, so if I were to start a nano tank of say 25ltrs for example, what fish would you recommend? Originally I was thinking of white clouds but I don't think they'd fit comfortably in a tiny tank like that... Are there even any fish smaller than white clouds aside from jellybean tetras? (which I've never seen down here btw)

Thanks in advance. :)

Don't ember tetras get to an inch or so long? 25ltrs is tiny and I personally couldn't cram 7-10 inch long fish in something like that... I need teeny tiny iddy biddy fish if I'm guna try this.

Damn you convict360 convict360 now look what you've started. :P

I would not mind a small group. Dwarf rasboras are EVEN smaller than that

I might have to look into the rasaboras if they're that tiny.

I guess its all down to personal preference. I personally couldn't keep 10 white clouds in a 25ltr tank without feeling like I'd locked a Doberman in a bathroom for its entire life, I know its a bit different but still.. :)

I'll be a 24 x 10 x 14, 15g.
