Strictly sport in the UK mate we look after our carp so it can live to fight another daythey do eat carp in some countries though EAstern Europe seem to be OK with it , I think it was an old tradition to eat carp at Christmas in the Czech Republic, as for baits there's various ways to tempt a carp in wild carp (not from a fishery) with live off naturals so earthworms , muscles , bloodworm , maggots etc are a daily part of there diet , as for fishery carp they tend to prefer man made baits like pellets and boilies firstly because they are fed these all year round buy fishery owners and because the smell tempts them in from long range
Carp are a traditional Christmas meal here, too, and also eaten quite a lot during lent. Not a tasty fish, though, I prefer them in my pond or on the end of my rod
