damnit...now I want a monitor instead of a snake...
Unless you're ready for a retic or chondro, snakes are lame. They hide 23.5 hours a day.

Agreed on the snakes....beautiful but boring. However I have always liked the emerald tree boas and pythons.Unless you're ready for a retic or chondro, snakes are lame. They hide 23.5 hours a day.
naw man I was going PA native with a black rat snake haha.Unless you're ready for a retic or chondro, snakes are lame. They hide 23.5 hours a day.
I've heard this as well. I also hear too many horror stories about people with "tame" monitors going to the hospital for 80+ stitches lol.I had never heard of this species before so off I went to look it up and research.I read that if handled often when young they can become quite tame.
what I'm not ready for is a 4'+ lizard who may or may not like being handled lol. I wouldn't mind one of the smaller species but I've also read they are extremely skittish.
I'm thinking of going the safer route and trying my hand at a tegu first, if I can handle that I may swing into the monitor game.Look into red or yellow ackie monitors
lol ya I've had that experience with reptiles in the past.I gues the term "tame" is not a guarantee of owner safety.
