What would be the minimum tank size for a pair of orinoco peacock bass? I am unsure of what tankmates would be but not too many, perhaps a catfish (thinking of a bolt catfish) and maybe some silver dollars? Thanks

You can probably get away with a 180g 6'x2'x2' although 30" wide would be better. I wouldn't keep them in anything smaller. As long as you can stay on top of keeping your water quality prestine. That is the hardest part with keeping big fish in a small tank.

Im interested in hearing what a few others have to say.

I had my 4 orino in 7ft 2ft 2ft tank before pairing off! sized 9-13 inch at the time! was ok apart from male having the odd fight over females!

iv got 1 pair of orino 12-16 inch in the 7ft 2ft 2ft tank! and 12 inch kelberi and 4 dollars and no probs !

other tank is 5ft 30 30 inch with pair orino 12-16 inch and 3 kelberi 10-14 inch" ok no major probs!

probley get away with 5ft 2ft 2ft for pair orino and a catfish and few dollars needed

With this stock i would go with a 6x3x2 just my opinion

225g w/ 30" width is min for most cichla imo.
ANd I think that is small. NOw that i have a 450g i too think that is small.
Big bass in a big tank is a sight to see. NO need to stunt them in a small tank.

stunt them in small tank mate! whot you call small then? no matter whot size the tank" ! if you take out the wild" your never going to get same results! cannot see how bass in a 6ft 2ft 2ft are going to grow lot slower than bass in 450g buddy! no good having big tank with overstock and crap water and bad food!

but yes bass look really good in really big tank :)
