My House
Hi i live in orange county, ca and it doesn't really get cold at night.
I just bought a large 240 gallon tank and theres no way it would fit in my house. I was wondering if its possible to set it up in my backyard under a patio roof? or does anyone know anyone that has experience with this. please let ke now thank you.

you can in the summer but during peak of winter it can get cold.
best bet is to buy/build a insulated shed for the tank out side or
put up a green house to put the tank in and insulating the tank
itself. if you just put the tank outside by itself your going to have
big temp swings which might lead to ich & other issues and what not.

u can buy buy premade ones but theyre pretty pricey. gl with the shed.
cheaper to go to the green house method.

Even temperate fish need water over 45(for most species) in winter, just get a air heater and a green house film,a few good fish for this setup are bluegill, longear sunfish, crappie or a single or pair of spotted bass

^ or that. keep cold water or sub tropical fish. maybe some natives.
if you have a chiller u can keep tropicals in the summer but make
sure u have a chiller and have it well aerated.

The water will never go under 45. The coldest day in SoCal will drop into the forties. Lived there 30 years.

i think im just gonna put the tank in the garage. imma clean up the garage after fumigation then set the tank in there. as for water, inside the garage its far away from the sink and the closet is water source is front lawn hose. I was wondering if i can use that? i dont want my fish getting ich or anything..
