I'm all for people messing about with x's and i enjoy seeing the results, just have a tank of fry eaterz ready!-)
I can appreciate any mutt myself, not a purist although I appreciate the likes of stanz tanks very much too.

Agreed. The dog one is more like crossing two different line bred strains of discus. This cross is more like a human crossing with a chimp.

Post in the hybrid section. You will find far less pugnacious responses there. I think it's possible to cross them. I've had both and I looked up pics and couldn't find any. I didn't let that stop me. All of my purist friends told me I was ruining the bloodlines or what ever. I didn't let that stop me either. My female JD was way too aggressive. That did stop me. If magic happens save the fry- sell them as hybrids or give them away to me just don't sell them as 100% JD or Syn or what ever. That's really what the purists are about.

You can sell them as hybrids, the person you sell it to can breed it with anything and try sell fry off as pure species. So do us all a favour and cull all fry.
I do agree with you about posting it on the hybrid section it's what it's there for

Problem with letting hybrids out of your tank system is while you might be a good, honest person who would sell/trade them under the right name, there are those who won't or simply won't know what it is once it's been passed on again.

This kind of attitude towards hybrids is extremely damaging to the hobby.You move on any hybrids and you can't guarantee where they end up.
If this is your idea of responsible handling of hybrids, expect pugnacious replies.
There is nothing responsible about it.

I think the kind of attitude it takes to kill fish you've bred is a douche one. The OP's not breeding them in vats in his florida backyard for money- the species will survive-
Good vendors will always have good fish. Get over yourselves. Over inflated ego's kill hobbies too. How many times can you say responsible in a sentence?

post this in the hybrid section where it belongs, then you won't have to worry about our over inflated egos.
There are very few good vendors.
Many ca cichlids species will be extinct in the next 30 years or so.
So yes cull the fry it only takes one or two to impact our side of the hobby.
