With the new CITES regulations going in effect January 2 2017, what does it really mean for the hobby? I've already seen a big increase in prices of Potamotrygon on aquabid, and a lot of people say it's going to be harder to find stingrays. It seems to me that the majority of rays we keep are captive bred, and also rays will still be imported. It's just that they will be more closely monitored as far as reporting collecting and needing permits. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I personally don't plan to monopolize on the inflated prices of rays due to the CITES regulations. I plan to breed my female motoro and sell pups for reasonable prices. What do you guys think?

My understanding is that its more paperwork for exporters making it longer to get rays exported to other countries.

That's pretty much what I got out of it. I saw on eBay this morning a guy has a motoro listed for $1000 claiming they will no longer be available. It really bothers me that someone would use this CITES thing to lie and try to make more money. I guess if someone buys it for that price it's their fault for not doing their homework, and probably couldn't succeed in keeping a ray alive anyway! Still bothers me tho

That's not any Motoro bud, and judging from your avatar you're well out of your wheelhouse.

The Ray in question is well worth the value posted. He's just jazzing the sale up so he can move it faster and maximize profits.

Here's the Ray-View attachment 1216777

Your attachment didn't come through for me, I assume the ray in question is the $900 motoro listed by John at ECZS? He always has liked his drama.
Definitely John blowing smoke up some azz. Just like his one in a million male Henlei he had two years ago or so for 3400 bucks. I picked one up just as nice and female for much much less.
