I think my senegal is a goner. :(

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No, I kind of like the idea of finding a retro or moke... i'll keep my eye on their list. They updated every week. If I could find a 6 inch one it probably wouldn't be 100 bucks I would assume? I could just sneak it in the tank and be like I don't know where that one came from! :)

I am pretty psyched on these two! They are both 6 inches long. The Del of course is a little thicker.

The Senegal's name was noodles. We named these two Udon (Del) and Ramen (Palmas) in his honor.

Pics in bags. Sorry they're kind of dark. I introduce new fish into an unlit tank.

Regarding the $100 tag on the retropinnis. You sure? It's always the Moke wet spot has at that price. When they get 6" retros in. It's usually 6" $40, 8" $50.
That's what the label said. But a Zaire green one, does that make a difference? It was definitely bigger than my 2, which are 6 in, and it was fatter. But I can't tell exact length because the tail was behind a rock.

Mine were both $50 for 6 inches.

Zaire green is another name used for retropinnis. It's cool to see a wild caught del and Senegal these days. Since, they're not common unlike the tank Raised. Post some updates in the tank photos.

The retro was $100. A little too much for me to spend all in one shot. My husband would not be psyched. ;)

You just need to get him used to the fact that a high quality fish is expensive, besides when you break down the cost of the fish over its potential lifespan its really not that bad.

My wife has got used to the fact that if I want to get something it is going to be in the hundreds. She does not even flinch anymore.

Those are both awesome fish you picked up today! That del is exceptional, as Vancouver_98683 Vancouver_98683 commented already it really has a nice head shape to it. This is where you really can see a difference, wild caught just look right with the perfect elongated body and the perfect head shape. Again nice pick up!

Thanks, hubby didn't even ask about price today. :)

What is it about the head shape that you like or is different than CB? I just liked his stripey patterning (which some that I've seen don't have as much). I have been reading a ton, but since I am a bichir newbie I don't know as much about head shape other than upper / lower jaw.

Honestly, hubby can see how much these two already make me happy. I just love staring at them. I think they are my favorite fish of all time and they have been here only a few hours. Why haven't I done bichirs earlier? I have been stuck in SA community fish for far too long. ;)

PS. - I started a new thread on these two, wanted to separate them out from the Senegal thread. RIP Noodles. <3

Hey everyone, sorry. I ended up not selling :o I've recovered pretty well, and by doing sump filtration I'm not having to deal with the back breaking canister maintenance. Sorry for the huge hiatus, I was just concentrating on recovering and trying my best not to think about selling everyone off. I'll have to update, everybody is still doing great and getting huge(er) :)
