What else to get for my 180 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your sure not even one more cichlid? I only have more common species right now(which I like) and wanted one or two less common species like a salvinis and or the loisellas cichlid which is supposedly really calm and small compared to most parachromis. Yes I know most parachromis need a tank to themselves or a larger tank to be with other fish(like jags rtms ect), but from what I've heard these guys are like as aggressive as a jd and similar in size(slightly larger) and for the bottom dwellers I want to get another medium sized cat or two and maybe some dithers and water quality won't be an issue. Also what are some recommendations for some non catfish that would go well with my cihlids, I was thinking possibly a school of silver dollars but idk, birchirs are cool, I had one once but the one I had a while back grew very slowly and I don't want the Oscar to grow fast and the birchirs to stay tiny and end up with an expensive and possibly deadly meal for my Oscar.

A bichir will never get properly fed with those tankmates.... maybe if you fed at night after lights out. A 180 is ok for a pearsei but not with all you have now. Argentea will end up killing most of your tank eventually. I wouod just wait and see how you feel when tbese fish put a little size on.

Def dont add anymore cichlids

Argentea and salvini are actually very agressive.

I was thinking the same. Infact i would bet the oscar will end up having some trouble down the road

Right now the Oscar is the boss of the tank and nobody messes with him, the other cichlids have minimal aggression twords each other occasional flaring and chasing. I was thinking a salvini would work beacause even though there aggressive there size would keep them in check I did some research on the argentea and knocked that off my list after I saw all the people saying they were very aggressive.

Get rid of the Oscar. Or leave your tank the way it is. Fish thunder dome is NOT cool.
You could possibly try dithers if you have enough open space for schooling fish
-giant danios rainbowfish ect. You will not be able to add another fish that size without upsetting the harmony and bio-load of your tank.

I disagree with the others. I think adding another cichlid might be OK. It all depends on the personally. But always have a back up plan.

My tiger Oscar is the meanest fish in the tank. I have it with a RTM and flowerhorn, just to list a few

How old are your fish

They all vary from 2inches to 7 inches. But the RTM Is about 5inches, same with flowerhorn. The Oscar is around 3.5 inches
