How does everyone deal with traveling (leaving fish alone)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If u can get a big pond in Florida u might be able to leave them in the pond year round if there is sufficient live foods in your pond year round.
ha, I'll need to buy a house for that. right now i am thinking that a roommate is the best idea. i will probably go back to south flroida in march and see how it goes. but i am keeping my appartment in Tiraspol just in case (i am only paying 100dollar rent)

I didn't read through all the pages but I'm assume that money is not an issue to you so I would say we are living in a modern world fill with technologies. You can setup a wifi door lock, camera watch in/out side of the house. You hire a proffesional pet service come to your house as specific time of the week and unlock/lock the door from your smart phone, everything can be record and store in cloud so you can check what's going on anytime, anywhere...I'm very high tech guy lol :p

It's an amazing idea. I did not even know that wifi locks exits))) money is a small issue, because i am not that rich since I quit being a pharmacist. but i am really good at budgeting. so i can probably pull it off. now i just need to research all those gadgets. I am planning on looking for a place in south florida in march.

Most tank installing places have services to come and take care of your fish. I'm sure it's expensive but it's an option. If I'm outa town I usually just have a friend stop by.

Hello; I have seen the lobster tanks in stores although not in my local area. Somehow this does not seem the type of professional I had imagined. As I do not have any personal knowledge of these professionals, nor their limits of operations, I will defer to your actual experience.

Tank instillation places generally offer care services

Fish keeping is a great hobby but it does tie you down, I think realistically your going to have to sell your fish, relying on other people is always a risk and stressful,, you might miss your fish but it will be better then ruining your time travelling worrying about them.. When the time is right you can settle down and start up some tanks again.

Do you not have a friend that is into fish that will stock your fish in the garage or something for a few months. Depending on your filtration you could tank that with the fish. That way your apartment stays locked

No, I dont have any friends in Florida yet))). I guess I could also take to the local fish store for a few months. but obviously, it only works if you have a few large fish.

I have set up and sold fish tanks every time I've moved for the past 10 years))) I guess I should pick one place and stay there. I thought that I would end up staying in Ukraine, but after the political situation there , it's not something i want now

Hello; To those following this thread, is this something fish shops do? To be more clear does anyone know of a fish shop that actually does house for weeks or months and then give back a persons fish? I guess that if it is done there must be some sort of fee involved. This is something new to me if in fact it is being done.

^^^LFS is a worse last resort ideal.
I came to LFS 1 time and I saw a nice fish but without price tag on it. I asked the guy how much is the price, he said it's customer fish then he turn around and spoke in his native language to another guy for few mins then he turn back to me and give me the price if I want to buy, (I knew it's a bit higher then normal cost of the fish) I did reply "you siad it's customer fish, and I don't want to buy someone fish then he kept telling me it's ok and don't worry about that if I accepted the offer lol. So, if you fish has some value they probably sell it then make up some story to you like it's died...etc.
