Fish you would love to keep but can't.

When I lived in the US, I would have loved to keep Uaru fernandezyepezi but my water was not soft or mineral free enough.
And some I've always wanted, but due to the political situation were impossible to import, Iranocichla hormuzensus and Nandopsis ramsdeni.
Tristramellia sacra or simonis were also on my list but probably a pipe dream.
Here in Panama, there aren't any cichlids for sale at all (except for dinner), so I need to catch any for myself.
And getting an aquarium to my island is a major feat in itself, I will probably end up with fish in a kiddy pool, or similar contraption.

Do you not have any tanks set up at the moment then Duanes?

I love those little dart frogs. It must be really nice to have such beautiful creatures on your doorstep.

Frontosa, uaru, discus, are a few. My tap is ph 7.6 and gh <40 ppm. Without doing a great deal of tinkering and experimenting with buffering all those fish seem out of my reach. They would make for very expensive guinea pigs.

I'd love to keep some plain ol' discus. My water is so hard and the ph is so high (and I'm too lazy!) that the maintenance is too overwhelming, especially considering the amount of other tanks I have to maintain.

List is way too long to list here... Mostly a size constraint issue being in a one bedroom apartment right now... Water here in central Texas is pretty hard too. Also not cichlids related but freshwater rays are illegal in Texas...
