I came across this tank for $28 and had to pick one up. It should make a nice planted nano with a betta and some shrimp.View attachment 1228220

Nice, I think it's probably just luck, but I try to add shrimp with juvenile betta; to try and avoid introducing them as prey. Worked so far, but it's all anecdotal on my part

I was looking into oddball nano fish, and came across Scarlet Badis. I think a school of about 6 would be perfect in a 4 gal. From what I've read, they have amazing color and dwarf cichlid like personality, which are fish I've been wanting to keep for a while now (for their personality and color).

I don't know if I would be able to do that, as the tank is only 4 gallons.
Ah. Mine uses practically all of the 15 gal so 4 probably won't work. I think do only a betta or only shrimp. The shrimp will be quite cramped with a hungry betta

They are pretty cool looking yeah. I would go for them of you can get them

I would say:
- a group of badis
- a group of shrimp
- a betta

Those are probably the best options

Bettas and Badis are both very agressive to other species of fish, so if I got one of the two it would have to be a species only tank (or single betta). I'll likely get shrimp with any stock I choose, as I have yet to keep any other than ghost shrimp.

Bettas can drive shrimp into hiding. I would be careful
