Good morning everyone. My new babies should be in about a hour and a half. I took a couple photos of my lids. Let me know what you think. I guess I'll use duct tape? I was thinking of cutting a 2x4 and laying it over the plastic parts. I need to do that at lunch today.

This is mine. I can still take the lid off, it's just tricky. I slide the glass piece out of the plastic piece (usually when gardening my plants. ;) )

But I also have rope fish and they are skinny little suckers, and I've read so many horror stories.

Hopefully others will chime in on what they think for your stock.

Excited for you!!!

Oh wow, you were serious about taping up everything :D I'll tape it up like that. I'm assuming my glass lids are heavy enough. They're pretty heavy!

Again, I have rope fish, and they are really skinny, and supposedly master escapers. I love them too much to risk it - with the black duct tape it's not really noticeable unless you look directly at the back of the tank, so I figure what the heck.

I feel like the bichirs that have pushed out of tanks with glass lids were large LJs... Polyaddict86 Polyaddict86 can comment on that one. I don't weigh my lid down but I only have smaller bichirs right now.

Yeah, mine are 3" so I'd be VERY surprised if they could move it at all. The tape looks great and I sure wouldn't want to take any chances so I'll be taping at lunch today.

Also putting a drop cam in my office today to keep an eye on things. I don't come in the office on the weekends and I'm leaving this friday afternoon to see family 4 hours away from here so I'll be able to watch them from afar. In the future I plan on coming in on the weekend to feed them so they won't eat each other or other fish but this weekend I won't be able to. Hopefully they'll eat today, tomorrow, and friday morning.

Definitly dont trust your lids... i had a few jump on me. I lost a really nice congicus because i forgot to tape the lid one night.

Magpie is spot on.

In the back i covered all openings with plexiglass and duct taped them to the lids and tank.

Dont worry about not feeding on the weekends. They'll be perfectly fine. Infact maybe better for them to miss a few days.
