I found some nice big balas at Wet Spot when my wife and I went to Portland for the weekend. Could not buy them because they were in a tank that other fish were being treated for something. So no bala.

He have four in his tank, he loves them especially when feeding time, at first i thought he was gonna cry when he put the guppies in the tank, but he was so happy when the gar charge the guppies, he was like( its like the dinosaur movie) he meant the jurassic world.
I have 4 in my sons tank, im growing them out, ill move them in the 180g when they hit 8"-9", and imma sell my SD's, so ill just have bala's and polys, since bala cleans my sand and driftwood, and they eat left over food too like tilapia. My SD's only eat the left over food but sont even clean the tank.

I had looked into some of the characin at Wet Spot too. But informed that they were trying to break them off live and they were a bit on the small side so likely poly food.
One part of me is tempted to replace the teugelsi the other wants to keep it simple and one less fish means less maintenance. Even though the teugelsi was not large compared to my other polys it probably ate more than even some of the bigger ones.

I think breaking this silver gars from live is gonna be a challenge. So far i had them for two week now, the first week i try not to feed them and i keep throwing tilapia but they dont even care about it even they are hungry. I think cause its trying to hunt the zebra danios and it knows it can eat it.
The gars are super cool.
