Upgrade planning - help me stock

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I keep my Polleni with Severums, it's a nice mix. I really think Stanzzzz's suggestion of offering whole pieces of shrimp (prawn :) ) is a great idea. My Polleni is a huge pig, he can and will eat anything. But if the piece of food was too large to eat all at once then other fish would have a chance to eat some too.

I've had various configurations for the past year. I had him with his sister (I think it's his sister) and another Fony with Rotkeils, Super Red, Notatus and their were essentially 0 aggression issues between all. The tank also had Hoplarchus Psittacus, Hypeselecara Temporalis, Angels. At one time I had my Polleni in with Vieja Maculicauda, Breidohri and Bifasciatus but they all proved too aggressive.

Also for what it's worth my Polleni has always tank mates. All of my experience has shown that they're highly compatible with many species of fish.

kewpiefishypewpie kewpiefishypewpie - can you comment on your sevs? What sexes did you have and what size tank?

magpie magpie Here is a short clip of my 125 currently. 2 pollini, 4 severum, 6 silver dollars, 2 festivum, and a gibby. I can't add any of my bichir right now, because they would be able to eat some of these fish. I may add a couple more festivum and and a couple of chocolates from other tanks. Not sure how long I will keep things this way, since these are grow outs for a larger tank, but will let you know of any issues along the way.

I had them with a pair of 4-5" Rotkeil's that actually spawned in a 75 gallon grow out tank- 0 aggression issues.

I was thinking about this thread the other day and I think a chocolate would be a nice compliment to the Polleni and Bichirs.

kewpiefishypewpie kewpiefishypewpie thank you for all the great info and experience. Did you notice the polleni to be much more aggressive as they come into adulthood or is not a very big difference than a juvi? Thanks again
