Probably should take the fish out and put them somewhere else temporarily and change out all of the water if it's yellow for no known reason.

What are possible reasons it would be yellow?

Tanin, organic material, algae, ammonium, etc. If he stalked the tank and it's new water then he should have some idea why it turned yellow. It sounds like it's contaminated with something and it's poisoning the fish.

Yea I had my Dovii Rose Queen breeding pair in there before they got moved to my 220. And we put Auto cycler in the 75 and put fish in. Then when he ran out of I believe it was Fluval auto start he bought API quick start and did the doses with that. But I put The Fluval auto cycled in my 220 and my fish are doing very well. Rose Queen just dropped eggs and we set up the tanks 2 days apart

Califishguy is correct, nitrite and ammonia would be 0 in a cycled tank. the tank doesn't have proper bacteria to deal with fish waste, and the buildup of chemicals like nitrite will kill the fish. Your best bet would be to put the fish in another tank for now, or if you don't have another, set up a 30gallon plastic bin with fresh, dechlorinated water and a filter/heater. Put the fish in there and do a 100% water change on the 75, also clean out the filter good. Then Buy some "Dr. Tims 1 and only", or get filter media from a seasoned tank, and put the fish back in with that. That should allow you to bypass the 4week-ish cycling period.

Easiest way to go about it is for you to watch his fish while he cycles his tank. Exchange half of your media filter for half of his, add the live bacteria and start cycling. Put the fish in after it's done cycling. Otherwise, you will have to do big water changes every day or the fish will die.
