Vitamin soak won't hurt. But it should be fine as long as the diet is varied. It's the shrimp only diets that seem to get people into trouble, an example, since it's commonly used.

But tilapia don't carry thiaminase. So No need to soak.

I use it on live feeders when feeding my one and only nandus when I can't get guppies/minnows etc etc.

Yeah but I'd like to know from someone who has kept them if they need it or not.

Like kno4te said not needed if you vary the diet. I soak it because i havent been feeding pellets too often lately

75 gallon update: A friendly vendor on this forum gave me a little help on my cycle problem. He told me to siphon out water from my 125 and dump it in my 75. Along with water, I also took a large styrofoam cup full of sand. Just to be sure this was kick started I opened up my other canister on the 125 and took some of it's media as well.

Since then, yesterday morning, I have 0 ammonia, 0.5 ppm Nitrites, and I didn't check the nitrates because I put old 125 gallon water in there so that will skew my results. I'd be willing to be I'll be cycled by Monday monring. Mr. Jeff got all set up :D

I grow my java moss under my desks single overhead LED strip, not so much grow but it survives well. That should be great. Vals are fairly easy as well, I'm planning to try it.

I got 180 rands of 300 I need for a bichir just from selling some stuff, sorry for the derail but I think I may be able to order this weekend :D

I'm getting more and more itchy myself. Trying not to just pull the trigger on the first one I see at pet smart or something.

It doesn't take much IME to grow those specifically - they do well in low light setups.

I don't know enough about LEDs and plants to advise you on that light specifically. It looks really similar to my Finnex Planted Plus which is enough to even make swords happy. You might search on the "planted tank" forum. Or maybe in the planted subforum here?
Or just compare the specs of the planted plus and this one.
